Who can learn to dive?
- Anyone over the age of 14 who can swim! All it takes is time and
commitment to learn!
How long does it normally take to train?
- As the D.O. would say we are always learning! However we do try to
get people up to the first stage, Ocean Diver, as quickly as
possible. Usually in the region of 8-10 weeks. However please
remember that the club is run by volunteers for it's members so
sometimes it can take longer.
What do I need to start training?
- Nothing! The club can provide all the training equipment for the
pool and can arrange dry suits for any open water training
required.
When do you meet?
- We meet up every Tuesday at 20:45 at the Abraham Moss Centre pool
for training or jsut a swim. We then move on the Three Arrows Pub
opposite the Sainsbury's at Heaton Park. This is where we organise
the dives that will take place over the weekend.
How much does it all cost?
- Ah, now this is the important one. Please ask me for more details
as it can depend on your situation. However it usually works out the
same cost as a couple of pints a week.
What sort of diving do you do?
- Most of our diving takes place of R.I.B.'s (Rigid Inflatable Boat)
however we sometimes organise hard boats or go shore diving all over
the country. Few places we have visited are Anglesey, Farne Islands,
Weymouth, Oban, St Abbs and many more.
I have a PADI Qualification is that relevant?
- Yes! All we ask is that you complete a cross over course to
transfer your qualification to a B.S.A.C. standard. This is normally
just done by an assesment from the D.O. Then training can continue
on the B.S.A.C. quaifications. See the Courses
page for more details.
How can I find out more?
- Either click on the contact page and
fill in your details and I will get back to you. Or just pop down
the pool on a Tuesday night and meet everyone.
